About Brigada Eskwela 2026

Brigada Eskwela is DepEd’s annual school preparation program. It promotes bayanihan by encouraging the community to help schools become clean, safe, functional, and learner-friendly before classes begin.

For 2026, Brigada Eskwela gives emphasis to both school infrastructure improvement and literacy development. This means schools are encouraged not only to prepare classrooms and facilities, but also to support reading development and learning spaces.

The official theme for Brigada Eskwela 2026 is:

Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman

This theme highlights the value of shared responsibility in preparing schools and strengthening learning environments for Filipino learners.

Main Focus Areas of Brigada Eskwela 2026

Based on DepEd Memorandum No. 027, s. 2026, Brigada Eskwela 2026 focuses on activities that help schools prepare for the opening of classes.

The main focus areas include:

  • preparing schools for the new school year with clean, safe, and learner-friendly environments;
  • supporting reading development through materials and literacy activities;
  • improving school infrastructure by repairing classrooms, facilities, grounds, and learning spaces;
  • enhancing structural safety and climate resilience of school facilities; and
  • organizing clean-up drives to remove clutter, clear pathways, and improve school surroundings.

These focus areas help schools prepare not only physically, but also instructionally, especially in supporting literacy and learner readiness.

Implementation Stages

The guidelines describe Brigada Eskwela implementation as a structured process with three main stages.

StageDescription
Pre-ImplementationPlanning, assessment of school needs, committee organization, stakeholder coordination, and preparation of materials
ImplementationConduct of Brigada Eskwela activities, volunteer engagement, clean-up, repair, literacy support, and documentation
Post-ImplementationMonitoring, evaluation, reporting, documentation, and submission of required reports

This structure helps schools make the activity more organized, accountable, and easier to document.

Pre-Implementation Reminders

Before Brigada Eskwela Week, schools are expected to assess their needs and prepare the necessary plans.

This may include:

  • checking classrooms, offices, libraries, laboratories, water and sanitation facilities, electrical systems, roofs, drainage, fences, and other school facilities;
  • identifying areas that need repair, replacement, cleaning, improvement, or safety action;
  • preparing a School Preparedness Checklist;
  • identifying literacy support needs such as reading corners, bookshelves, and learning spaces;
  • organizing Brigada Eskwela working committees;
  • coordinating with stakeholders and possible partners;
  • preparing advocacy materials; and
  • planning activities for the five-day implementation period.

Schools should prioritize the needs that directly affect learner safety, school readiness, and teaching and learning.
